Derek, a virile alpha in his prime, is well past the age where he has to worry about bonding with an omega. When his sister ropes him into being a chaperon for her daughter's graduation party, however, he runs into an omega whose scent has him burning with need. The omega is his, and nothing will stop Derek from claiming him.
Scott never wanted an alpha, and he certainly never wanted a traditional one like Derek. The older alpha is uncompromising and strict, pushing Scott to be the kind of doormat of an omega he's always pitied. It's intolerable and degrading, and Scott isn't going to give in without a fight...
(This 60,000 word book contains some dark themes before the happy ending, including dubious consent, bondage and attempted brainwashing. Do not proceed if this bothers you.)
This book was previously published under the pen name of Riley Trent.

“Man, I’m so sorry. I didn't realize that this room was-”
“Shut up,” Derek growled, taking a step closer. He barely recognized himself, skin feeling too tight, that scent filling his nose making him want… making him need. The boy took a step back, a sour note of fear wafting off his skin. Derek reacted - he had no other word for it - charging the boy and slamming him back into the door, closing them inside the room. This time he turned the lock, preventing any interloper from coming in and interrupting him while he claimed what was his.
“Dude! Just calm down, OK. I’m sorry I interrupted your- Argh!” Derek clamped his hand down over the boy’s lips, palm gnashing into his teeth, pinning him to the door as he pushed his face into the boy’s neck. He buried his nose in the skin under the boy’s ear, opening his mouth wide, teeth elongating and getting ready to stake his claim. To seal the boy to him, to make it so that no one could ever take him away.
“Man! You don’t want this, OK! Just, take a step back. Please!” the boy was begging - hands pushing uselessly at Derek’s chest - working himself into a panic. Derek ignored him. Pretty soon the boy would be bitten and claimed, and any objections he had would be drowned out by the need to please his new alpha...

This is a romantic/erotica type genre fiction - so there was a lot of sex, in fact it is mostly sex, but that is ok. However, the entire story is about an abusive and forced relationship. After an entire book of being sad and uncomfortable for the main character, the abuse stops, and the book ends. Yay, we made up, there is a potential for the future! Done. Wasn't much gratification for me. However, if you are very into non-con or reluctant but unavoidable sex, this might be a good read for you. That is most of what is in this book. The writing itself was ok. I didn't have any complaints on that front.

Bound to the Alpha edition by DJ Heart Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This is one of those D.J. Heart books set in a world of Alphas and Omegas that do all the werewolf type things but not turn into actual wolves or howl at the moon. It's got to be my favorite book out of all of them. It's not only short and sweet but the plot line stays simple and easy to follow (unlike several other "Alpha/Omega" books by this writer) and the focus is kept strictly on one "working class" alpha and one "not overly juvenile" omega involved in a unexpected relationship.
Derek is an older un-mated Alpha manly man and Scott the sweet highly independent teenage boy omega. The story is dark and Derek is obviously only interested in a BDSM relationship and Scott ends up getting tortured half way through the story... because Derek is a neanderthal and Scott is a bit hard headed. BUT, please keep in mind the writer made these guys more like werewolves and set this whole story in an obviously not "real life" setting. Things do work themselves out eventually for a typical uplifting HEA. So romance, it's got some.
This is an all over short and sweet and painless introduction to the sometimes dark world of D.J. Heart and I recommend it.
If the story feels "too dark" or "too harsh" then this might not be a writer you will enjoy. Them's the breaks.
This was a good story...Very short though. Alpha was not an easy character to like. Very dominate and at times cruel. There are some pretty dark scenes so be prepared!
The book had 286 pages or 2488 locations on my kindle. The book was about 2 men, Derek and Scott. Derek was a 31 year old Alpha. Scott was an omega and 10 years, Derek's junior. Derek was chaperoning a party, when he came across Scott and immediately recognized the young man, as his mate and bit him, which instantly bonded the 2 men. Scott, who had no wish to belong to anyone, was less than thrilled, by this new revelation. The book contained lots of hot, hot, oral sex and anal sex. The book also contained a bit of spanking with hands, dog references, such as being in heat, use of words like "good boy". I liked Scott. He was outspoken, quickly letting Derek, know, he did not like being collard, led around on a leash, and being told what to do, 24/7. Derek was ok. He was stubborn, extremely dominant, and believed his way was the only way, but he eventually realized, that Scott's happiness, was more important than his old fashioned views.
Even though I did read the description, this book was a bit of a shock.
First of all, the cover art is seriously misleading. Because of the full moon and the term "alpha," I mistakenly believed this would be a werewolf romance. My bad.
But the thing that really bothers me is the appearance of the men they look like physical equals. Not so in the story. The alpha in this story is a 31-year-old built like a biker, and the omega is a small, barely-legal high school senior who gets cornered at a high school party (by the supposed "chaperone") and bonded despite his attempts to fight back. He's a kid still living with his parents, looking forward to college in the Fall. Suddenly, he's basically forced into a type of "marriage" relationship with a power-tripping Top.
And rather than helping him by suppressing the Alpha with medications, doctors flush the suppression drugs from the Omega's system so his hormones can take over and he can respond sexually.
This isn't my first encounter with the omegaverse, as it's becoming quite common in yaoi manga. The basic premise, for the uninitiated, is that the world consists of three casts of people Alphas, Betas, and Omegas. Betas are the normal, everyday folks. Alphas are the natural top dogs with serious hormones and built-in confidence and cache. Omegas are the bottom tier, and once an Alpha bites the back of their neck, they're bonded to that Alpha for life, and their Omega hormones pre-condition them to want to please and obey their Alpha, while the Alpha's hormones are telling them to protect their Omega. Both Alpha and Omega are hormonally sexually addicted to each other. Obviously, in male-male bonds, the Alphas are Tops and Omegas are Bottoms.
However, I've never seen this take on it, in which Alphas have deviated from the "Protector" role and "conservative" Alphas are like BDSM Doms, but all the time and without the element of consent (including accessory shops that are like kink outlets and conventions to show off their lap-boys). Also, they don't have a normal p-nis, but instead keep referring to their "knot," which expands upon release like a dog's, locking them inside their Omega. It's so vile.
The description warned that there was "dubious consent," but this takes non-con to a whole new level. The "attempted brainwashing" in this story of the Omega, Scott (remember, still an adolescent), reduces him to a mindless, slavering, sex slave who can't even remember what he did when he later wakes up in a semi-permanent haze that he can't quite break out of because of continued brainwashing. Attempts to speak his mind are met with physical punishment and further brainwashing torture. Meanwhile, Derek gets his Alpha advice from internet forums that recommend even more torture and beatings to keep Omegas in line, and thinks he's being a standup guy, doing right by his Omega. Which means Omegas other than Scott are suffering all these things as well, all over the world. That's a terrible thought.
As for the sex scenes, there was nothing sexy about them. Because of Scott's inability to actually consent, it was like reading about the repeated rape of a mental patient. And Derek's dirty talk went beyond dirty to just plain disgusting. The stuff he was saying would take a woman mid-orgasm and instantly turn her colder than a glacier.
By the time a crisis happens that makes Derek question his treatment of Scott, it's already too late for me to care. I hate him, and I want Scott to go on permanent suppression and run away to Canada like his mom suggests at an earlier time in the story. Even the "new, improved" Derek at the end is still a total tool, and Scott still can't seem to maintain any self-control because Derek keeps riling him up; I'm not convinced that the relationship has improved at all. There is no "happy ending" as far as I'm concerned, just the wistful knowledge that it could have been better but probably never will be.
